Absolutely Pathetic Loss By The Patriots

Remember back in September and we thought the Patriots' receiving core would feature Antonio Brown, Julian Edelman, Demariyus Thomas and Phillip Dorsett?

Well, this Patriots offense is a shell of what it was back when the grass was green and the sun was setting well after 4 p.m.

That was evident as Tom Brady's bunch laid an egg against the Tomato Can Miami Dolphins that gave some Patriots fans flashbacks to the Drew Bledsoe days.

The 27-24 loss to Miami relegated the Pats to playing on Wild Card weekend for the first time since the 2009 season. This writer happened to be in the stands in Foxboro for that 33-14 beatdown against the Baltimore Ravens.

The question is, who is to blame?

The answer is simple. It's everyone.

The offense was inept and it was as if Red Gendron was calling plays. Brady looked like Hugh Millen when he threw that woeful second-quarter Pick Six to former Patriot Eric Rowe.

The defense, up by four in the final minutes, had to keep a mediocre quarterback in Ryan Fitzpatrick from scoring a touchdown. The best defense in the NFL made a journeyman look like Dan Marino. It was absolutely pathetic.

The coaching. The Patriots had three timeouts and a minute left in a tie game at the end of the first half but Bill Belichick elected to keep the ball on the ground instead of attempting to get points. It was awful. Boos echoed through Gillette Stadium and rightfully so.

The coaching resembled the season finale of 2015 when Belichick got conservative on offense the result? A loss to....Miami. Costing the Patriots home-field advantage and sending them to Denver for an AFC Championship game that the Pats win handily if it's in Foxboro.

This team does not deserve a first-round bye and it starts at the top with Coach Hoodie not supplying Brady with the proper weapons. And without said weapons, this team is not going to win a track meet at Arrowhead.
