The Mother Of All Snubs: NBA Coaches Don't Cast One Vote For Brad Stevens

4th And Goal with The Bam!

In honor of Mothers Day weekend, let's talk about the mother of all shaft jobs. The shafting of Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens by all the other NBA coaches in the pathetic NBA.

Brad Stevens received exactly zero, with a Z, votes from his peers for Coach of the Year. Not a single one of those clowns thought that Stevens was the best coach in the league this year. All he did was lead his team to the to the second best record in the Eastern Conference.

He did it without his mega star free agent home run, Gordon Haywardwho literally, almost , had his foot actually fall off about 5 minutes into game #1.

Equally talented Kyrie Irving, missed most of the last 1/3 of the season . No matter, the boys rolled on and the players consistently gave Stevens all the credit. Inexplicably, Doc Rivers of the no playoff , barely .500 Clippers got a vote. Yeah, that Doc Rivers who successfully rode the coat tails of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett to a title in Boston.

Greg Popovich got a vote. Are you kidding me? All he did was lead his team to it's worst finish in 20 years. Funny how you aren't as good when Tim Duncan isn't on your roster.

Brett Brown of Philadelphia? Did they think he was somehow on the Eagles coaching staff and not the 76ers? I don't think that NBA coaches have jock straps, but if they did, Brett Brown, on his BEST day , isn't worthy enough to carry Brad Stevens' to the bus.

I realize this is basically a meaningless award at the end of the day, but if Brad Stevens isn't going to get a single thumbs up, then what exactly is the point of having the award to begin with.

Admittedly, I am not Jeff Mannix. Few are. However, I do pride myself a little in being somewhat of a hockey guy. I love the sport and pound for pound, there is no better sport to watch live. Having said that, the mother of all surprises this week, is the Winnipeg Jets reaching the conference Finals ( and going up 1-0 in that series) .

I know most of you are probably going to have to go to Google maps to find Winnipeg. The resurrection of hockey in Winnipeg is officially complete. Long ago, 1995 to be exact, they were packed up, Baltimore Colts style, and moved to the Arizona desert.

Winnipeg is a great hockey city, as most, not all, but most Canadian cities are. They are being paid off in 2018 with actual hope of a Stanley Cup. The American in me says I hope they fail, but the hockey fan in me thinks it would be really cool if they don't.

What would also be really cool is if the Maine Black Bears alumni team could win the Stanley Cup in the next few years. Led by Head Coach Jim Montgomery, superstar goalie Ben Bishop and the best player at Maine in the last 6 or 7 seasons Devin Shore, it will be exciting to watch the Dallas Stars for the next several years.

Happy Mothers Day week to all and Go Stars.
