On this Mother’s Day weekend there are many people to be thankful for. First and foremost my mother, because if not for her, there would not be me. #Obviously
Then there is my wife. Raising seven children is not easy. Heck, raising one child is not easy.
Now, those are all well and good, but probably not why are you subscribe. So here are some sports world moms I’d like to thank...
Thank you for your son Tom. His football ability is well documented, and all of the accolades that of come with that. But I’ve been able to get to know him a little bit over the last 18 years. He is a great role model, husband, father, and was raised right.
Thank you for your son Brad. I know you were not planning on spending Mother’s Day weekend with him, you were hoping he would be busy. And I’m sorry that he’s not. But make no mistake, he is the right person to lead this storied Celtic franchise forward. Thank you for giving him an extreme amount of patience which was tested this year, and will likely be needed again in the off-season.
Your son Mookie gets it. Another example of an athlete who is the best in his craft and yet find a way to stay humble, and grounded, and real, and giving. That can only come from great parenting. Whether it’s feeding the homeless without looking for any fanfare, or the way he smiles while he’s playing the game he loves, your son is a pleasure.
Thank you for Patrice. As I watch the black and gold get closer to a Stanley cup championship. I can’t help but think about the sacrifices you made for your children growing up to make sure not only that they’d be to practice on time, but that their academics were up to standard. Your son rarely if ever complains when a penalty is called. Seems to be emotionally even keeled, and a true leader respected by not only his teammates, but by his opponents as well..
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the amazing moms out there. It’s the hardest job in the world, but the benefits are totally worth it :-)
